BMW X4 35i vs. Porsche Macan S - Who will be the new benchmark-setter in sporty Compact SUV segment?

Last week Porsche launched the new Macan in Cairo while BMW was launching the new BMW X4 and the 4 Series Gran Coupe simultaneously in Spain.

And while there are several so-called ‘premium’ or ‘luxury’ Compact SUVs available on sale in Egypt, such as the Audi Q5, the MINI Countryman, the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLK, it seems that the very sporty BMW X4 and Porsche Macan will play in a separate performance-league of their own.

The 1,8-tons heavy BMW X4 35i with its 306hp and 400Nm could probably easily keep up with the Macan S which produces 340hp and 460Nm of torque but not with the Macan Turbo which produces 400hp and 550Nm. Maybe a future and not-yet-confirmed X4 M with 400hp would be able to keep up with the Macan Turbo.

So will the BMW X4 35i, which is the considered the smaller brother of the BMW X6 and which will start at 37.000 Euro, be able to outperform the Porsche Macan S?

Well, that is what we will find out very soon.
